In 2014 Dave Allwright left the General Contracting field to focus on the needs of cottage owners in Manitoba and Western Ontario with surface post and pad foundations. Dave is a “Building Maintenance Mechanic” by trade, and has strong knowledge of all aspects of building construction and maintenance. Dave has worked professionally as a hands on manager in the industry for 30 years.
Since 2016, Absolute Leveling specializes in lifting and leveling post and pad foundations for cottages. These types of surface foundations are subject to frost movement and require maintenance and leveling from time to time.
This type of work can only begin once the frost has come out of the ground, usually about the middle May in most of our work area. We must stop this work in the fall when freezing temperatures, snow and ice arrive. This normally happens sometime towards the end of October. Therefore our physical work season is 5 1/2 months long with the best weather scenario, so we work long works during this time, and I defer as many other functions to the off season as possible. Off season is the best time to do planning and estimates for upcoming projects, drawings, engineering, permits etc. I also do my marketing, bookkeeping, equipment servicing, and all other office duties.
Located in Beausejour, MB, our normal area of work is Eastern half of Manitoba, as well as the “Lake of the Woods” area of Ontario.
These areas include:
- Grindstone/Hecla, Gimli, Winnipeg Beach, and Matlock.
- Balsam Bay to Lakeshore Heights
- Grand Beach, Lester Beach to Hillside Beach and Traverse Bay
- Lac du Bonnet, RM of Alexander, Lee River
- The Whiteshell Provincial Park including Caddy Lake
- West Hawk and Falcon Lake, Kenora and Lake of the Woods.
